Rather expected game when 4th placed RomanianValcea (1-4) was smashed by first ranked Italian Sassari (4-1) in Ramnicu Valcea 97-65 on Wednesday. Sassari dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Valcea 's 26 and made 27-of-30 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Valcea 39-21 including a 30-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Nick McGlynn (206-1996, college: Drake) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Carlos Marshall Jr (198-1999, college: Santa Clara) accounted for 14 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Five Sassari players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican point guard Gian Clavell (193-1993, college: Colorado St.) came up with 29 points and 4 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and American forward DeAndre Pinckney (203-2000, college: Southern Miss) added 6 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Valcea in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sassari have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-1 record, which they share with 10 other teams. Loser Valcea dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with 7 other teams.
